Metal-jacketed gaskets (clad)
Metal-jacketed gaskets consist of a metallic outer shell with a non-metallic compressible filler that strengthens the gasket and ensures a tight seal against irregular flange surfaces. The jacket protects the filler against high pressures, temperatures and corrosion.
High-strength sealing up to and beyond 900°C.
Metal-jacketed gaskets are traditionally used for heat exchanger applications, pumps, and valves up to and inclusive of Class 900. However, the resilience and recovery properties of these gaskets are limited and do require very high bolt loads to ensure effective sealing performance in extreme settings. Temperature limitations are dictated by the combination of metallic and non-metallic materials used in construction. “

Metallic materials
- Soft iron
- Carbon steel
- Stainless steel
- Inconel
- Monel
- Nickel
- Aluminum
- Brass
- Copper
- Other materials on request
Non-metallic materials (consider putting in table)
- Compressed fiber millboard
- PTFE
- Graphite
- Ceramic
Plain style
The filler material is completely enclosed by a two-piece metal jacket which covers both the inside and outside diameters.
Corrugated style
The metal jacket is formed from a corrugated jacket that creates a multi-seal effect across the flange face, increasing resilience when compared to the plain style gasket.
Double shell style
Constructed of two reversed wrap-around shells that provide increased handleability and resistance to high pressures.
Sizes and specifications
Gasket widths as narrow as 5/16” (8mm) can be manufactured dependent on diameter. Very large gasket diameters can also be produced. Nominal gasket thickness is 1/8” (3.2mm). Gaskets can be manufactured with either integral or welded pass partition bars, in a variety of complex configurations.
